We are a developmental integrated conservation organization with much focus on conserving Balanite aegyptiaca in Savannah woodlands of the pristine and marginalized zones of Samburu & Marsabit counties in Northern parts of kenya.
B.aegyptiaca somatic appearance
It’s a zyphyllacea family plant with greyish-brown trunk,has a rough bark with yellow-green patches .Leaves are compound with two leaflets of different shapes .
Our Goal is to
- To conserve the ballanites and protect natural resources and bio diversity in ballanites growing areas
- To commercialize the balanites products .
- Educate the locals on importance of conservation
- Empower the women in our mitigation programs / youths
- Grow the ballanite seedlings in bulk to meet to consevation agenda
Uses of B.aegyptiaca somatic
Oil
The oil extracted from its fruit is used in cosmetics, soaps, and traditional medicine.
Medicinal Purposes
The plant is believed to offer relief from various ailments such as malaria, skin conditions, and digestive problems.
Drinking Juice
The fruit of Balanite aegyptiaca is not only nutritious but also refreshing when consumed as a juice.

Roasting Method
- Mature but not rippen part(naisuri)is roasted on fire.
- When it turns the color to black,it's Ready to be removed from the fire.
- Let them cool and remove the exocarp.
- Separate the mexo carp with these
- Remove the middle yellow coating(poison/sayet)
- Now,keep the oil extraction purpose
- The exocarp is ready to be consumed by chewing
- It's chewed until all liquid is exhausted,and throw the fibre rike emains.Alternatively,it can given to livestock immediately or dried in sun.
Sucking Method
- The maturered seed(naimuji)is consumed by removing the orange/yellow • outercover.
- Suck the sup in the mouth until you reach the whiteshell of the seed
- Keep the white hell for further usage.
White shell utilization
- This is where you collect the disposed whhiteshells-either through sucking method or roasting method
- After collecting,you boil for atleast 30min to losen hardness. remove the seeds from boiling water and keep them sometimes to cool, • Before you crack the outer shell to obtain seed
- You boil the seeds in clean water to obtain oil.
- After exhausting all in seeds,remove the seeds from water and let the cool
- They are now ready to be eaten raw
